An extensive range of leather bags depicting Australian landscapes. While artist in residence at Sails In The Desert Hotel at Ayers Rock Resort , Bob Craven amassed a large collection of photographs of the landscapes of Central Australia, inspiring him to capture the magic of these ancient lands in a range of hand crafted shoulder bags & clutch purses.
Each bag’s interior & exterior compartments and lining are of kangaroo, and the pictures are generated from emu leg leather. The various different textures in the leg leather prove ideal for representing varying grades of gravel and sand that make up the fabric of this striking environment.
Bob Craven has a distinguished history as a leather artisan commencing in the late sixties, in recent years his work has been exhibited in high profile exhibitions in all mainland states of Australia, and in the U.S.A. Of recent years Bob’s son Shaun has taken a major role in the business and does much of work crafting products.
