Di Bird with Red Hot and Blue live up to sultry expectations
In just our 3rd. sellout show. Sultry Jazz with one of
Australia’s outstanding female jazz vocalists. Di Bird accompanied
by Michael Bartolomei on piano, American Double bass legend Ed
Gaston who played with Sarah Vaughn, started to build the taste
Canowindra entertainment legend.
The evening featured material from both of Di’s CD’s “Red Hot
& Blue” and the most recent, “Gypsy in my soul”.
As reviewer & performer John Morrison promised "..you
will never tire of the groove these guys get going.".... and he
was absolutely right. Red Hot & Blue were voted the most
popular band at the 2003 Noosa Jazz Festival. They certainly lived
up to their reputation. The trio's sophisticated interpretation of
the swinging tunes made famous by Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee
along with a selection of Blues and Latin means that they bring
something special to all of their performances.
Di Bird returned in Jan 2008 once again a full house with a
memorable perfromance. On this occasion there were two new faces
Peter Locke on piano and Adrian Cunningham on Sax &
clarinet.
Unfortunately Di's show Saturday June 7th 2008
had to be cancelled due to illness in the band. Di sincerely
apologizes for this and hopes you will join her at her next show on
September 27th.
